Welcome to your ECT program! Here is a quick overview of what to expect and how you will be supported:
Your Learning Hub (Steplab): Once your Induction Tutor registers you, you'll gain access to Steplab. This platform hosts a wealth of resources, including videos and readings designed to build your understanding of excellent teaching practices.
Study Time: You will need to set aside dedicated time to complete your Steplab modules weekly if you are an ECT, or fortnightly if you are an ECT+1.
Expert Mentoring: You’ll be paired with an expert teacher who will observe you and provide feedback (weekly for ECT; fortnightly for ECT+1). This cycle includes deliberate practice, where your mentor will coach you through your next steps and practice techniques with you.
Professional Networking: You are entitled to attend regular conferences and clinics, giving you the perfect opportunity to develop your expertise and network with fellow ECTs.
Conferences (In-Person): Your opportunity to step away from your school, network face-to-face with other ECTs, and dive deep into excellent classroom practice.
Clinics (Online): Interactive digital workshops where you'll collaborate in breakout rooms to dissect common teaching problems and scenarios. (Note: Working camera and microphone are required!)
